The information takeoff tool inside the software allows us to generate any classification of information we want to have. For this purpose, the general contractor, supplier and designer discuss the form of data included in the 3D reinforcement model.

The measures are taken according to the specification and the shape called form-code is assigned to each bar that supplier exactly knows how to produce them. In my opinion, the possibility to generate the bending list by the general contractor itself is very helpful. We are not dependent on designer delivery which may sometimes fail to be at the requested time before production starts.

The model lets us generate in very quick time the bending list we need of particular rebars and have control over them. However, to help avoid a lot of manual work at the fabrication site of preparing the orders for production, the supplier can load its own template of excel data which the system can read to create the production bending list data.

Prior to this phase, the shape-codes need to be predefined first manually to let the system recognize the way of bending process. This avoids a lot of mistakes during the construction phase, and at the same time delays in the material delivery.

Having over 200,000 rebars in the Model it is important for the contractor to have access to data that can be controlled in a much earlier phase than before.

The contractor requires all relevant information that are sufficient for site installation and quality control. Among the others we usually pay most attention into Concrete forms, geometry, reinforcement detailing, post-tensioning works, and other bridge equipment that need to be designed according to Norwegian Standards and full-filling the material information to be procured and installed.
